Lees-247

At Lees Primary we believe that students deserve a well-structured and ambitious maths curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge, which ignites curiosity and prepares them well for everyday life and future employment. Regardless of ability, we want every child in School to appreciate the magic of mathematics and feel empowered to succeed in maths.

Our Maths Curriculum is carefully thought out and progressive. We aim for all  children to become fluent in the fundamentals of maths, through embedding their arithmetic skills and by developing their ability to be able reason and problem-solve, so that they can apply the universal language of maths to their understanding in the wider world.

At Lees we follow the White Rose Maths Hub scheme to ensure full coverage of the National Curriculum and clear progression in mathematical skills and understanding. Teachers adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every child is appropriately challenged.

Regular assessment helps track progress and inform teaching, while ongoing communication with Maths Leaders ensures curriculum consistency and support across year groups.

Daily lessons include arithmetic practice, new learning that builds on prior knowledge, and a strong focus on both procedural and conceptual fluency. Reasoning and problem-solving are embedded throughout, with the use of practical resources and visual aids to support understanding where needed.
