Our Curriculum
Art
At Lees we want our children to become passionate, enthusiastic artists, who are motivated and have confidence in their own creative abilities. We aim to achieve this through a carefully designed curriculum, covering the national curriculum in its entirety. We believe that art is an important method of self-exploration and communication with benefits to social and emotional wellbeing, as well as having practical benefits in life and career paths. Our art curriculum aims to develop children’s knowledge of a range of artists, who reflect our wider society, promote confidence and independence in using a range of mediums and to develop an understanding of the value art has to them.
In Lees, we are fortunate to have access to beautiful landscapes, which inform and inspire us as artists. We are also a part of a community which has some real creative strength within their hobbies and careers. Therefore, we aim to inspire and open our minds further to the full range and benefits of art.
In addition to our art curriculum, we use art as a tool for teaching appreciation, tradition and community through our whole school art displays for Remembrance Day and the sharing of Christmas cards with our families.
We create Christmas card designs to share with our families.
